The doors to the academy officially opened this past Friday, April 17, and the turnout was nothing short of legendary. We saw a record-breaking 48 participants pack the store, with every seat filled and a high energy that lasted through 7+ hours of Magic.
It was incredible to see everyone locked in and ready to represent their chosen colleges. Unfortunately, demand was so high that we had to turn people away due to table space—a clear sign that the local Magic community is growing faster and stronger than ever!
The Strixhaven Experience
Each student selected their specific college prerelease kit, diving into the arcane secrets of the set across 6 intense Swiss rounds.
- The Format: Sealed Deck (40-card minimum).
- The Loot: Players opened 5 Play Boosters plus a college-aligned seeded booster featuring a Rare or Mythic Rare from their specific school.
- The Rewards: Every participant walked away with an additional participation booster, while our Top 12 finishers earned extra prize packs for their mastery of the craft.

Looking Ahead: The Road to 64
With the Hobbit Prerelease looming in August, we are already looking at ways to increase our capacity without decreasing the quality, comfort, or space for our guests. After hitting 48 players, our next goal is a staggering 64 participants for a single event. We want to make sure as many of you as possible can get in on the action, so watch this space!
